The critical piece of gear that’s missing from your pack

The gear we wear and carry on a run or adventure outing can add to the comfort and success of our endeavors, yet the most critical piece of gear is one that many of us aren’t even carrying on a regular basis. Having a basic first aid kit with other essentials is something every runner should have on them at all times, especially when we venture further down the trail.

You may never need to use it, but as the saying goes, it’s better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.

We’ve found a near perfect solution in the Backcountry Preps Trail Runner Emergency Essentials kit. This tiny kit is loaded with a ton of high quality products, but weighs in at a feathery 3.65oz.

Here’s what you’ll find in the kit:

  • Basic First-aid Supplies trail-runner-bcpreps
  • Butterfly Enclosures
  • Dental Floss
  • Triple Antibiotic Ointment
  • Cortisone Cream
  • Moleskin
  • Tweezers
  • Mylar Emergency Blanket
  • Aluminum Whistle
  • Sewing Kit
  • Safety Pins
  • Super Glue
  • Salt Packets
  • Zip Bag
  • Sharp Knife
  • 4.5″x 4″x .75″
  • 3.65 oz

I’ve been carrying this kit for the past month, hardly noticing it’s even there, but have the peace of mind know I’ve got the basics on hand should something arise for myself or someone in need.

I now make sure I’ve got it with me before heading out.

TAUR has partnered with Backcountry Preps to bring you a TAUR special edition trail runner kit. It’s the perfect gift or stocking stuffer for all of the runners or adventurers on your list.

The Special Edition BC Preps TAUR Trail Runner kit can be purchased in the TAUR Store for $20.

I carry a similar kit for my backcountry runs, the only thing I would recommend adding is a small ace bandage. I have broken my ankles three times during remote solo trail runs and I have had to drag my butt back to my truck. Having an ability to stabilize my ankle and keep the swelling down would have been nice. I now carry one with me…took awhile of the idea to sink in unfortunately
