“When you get up in the morning and the light is hurt your head
The first thing you do when you get up out of bed
Is hit that streets a-runnin’ and try to beat the masses
And go get yourself some cheap sunglasses
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah”
This is a review of two very different sunglasses, both in price-point and in style. It’s all about options.
Tifosi offers a great variety of models for $25. We tested the Swank model and for $25 it has Swag. We were really impressed with the polarized lens, cool design and print of the frames and the overall fit and feel of the sunglasses. These are great for many runners with small frame size needs. These are not a race or performance frame and has limited versatility in changing light conditions, but again they were only $25, so lower those expectations. If you are like us, grab a couple of pairs and don’t sweat the little stuff. They might be the best sunglasses for the price out there.
On the other hand, if you are a world class athlete or just an average joe wanting to look like a pro, look no further with the Smith Wildcat. At $209, these are a premium sunglasses with a great deal of versatility and range of visibility. The range of visibility and interchangeable lens were a favorite feature for our testers. In fact the clear lens was a standard for winter ski mountaineering and low visibility runs/rides. Changing the lens was extremely easy and never posed a significant issue, other then always keeping the case and extra lens around, or at least in the car. That certainly helped us treat it more carefully, especially because of the price point.
The larger price tag also gives you a larger lens, no real relationship. Despite this, the frame has two adjustable nose pads that support the frame and prevent most potential bouncing.
Would you rather purchase a more expensive premium product or more affordable?
