Long Beach, Calif., November 2, 2017 – Drawing on its decades-long technical expertise, Epson today announces ProSense™, a new line of GPS running watches that provide exceptional precision, economy, benefits and craftsmanship.
This new five-watch line resulted from painstaking innovation and over 20 years of experience in manufacturing precision GPS technology and heart rate sensors.(1) ProSense watches draw on not only the company’s legacy of precision sensor technology, but also the time-keeping heritage of parent group Seiko Epson, one of the largest watch manufacturers in the world.
Among the compelling characteristics of the Epson ProSense line, listed below, are category-leading battery life in most models and reliable accuracy that result from a GPS chipset built from the ground up by Epson engineers. The functionality is intuitive and activates Epson RouteSenseTM GPS – a set of revolutionary features that are unique in run watches, including clever position algorithms, stride sensors using Bayesian learning, and Assisted GPS that updates automatically to speed up signal acquisition.
The RouteSense GPS features are matched by the company’s ground-breaking CardioSenseTM HR technology that delivers an onboard heart-rate sensor that is the most accurate and reliable that Epson has ever offered. (1)
The system, produced in-house by Epson, measures heartrate continuously with superior accuracy every second using noise-cancelling sensors and algorithms as well as a Transimpedance Amplifier, which makes the system more reliable — and also allows the multisport models to measure heartrate underwater.
The sum of all these innovations is complemented by the best battery life in most models, at a compelling value. Visually, runners of all levels will find the ProSense line offers astounding clarity and ease of use. The EasyViewTM display available on the 307, 347 and 367 models created by Epson’s System Engineering Team features a unique electrophoretic display (electronic paper) with crisp and glare-reducing optics. Some models in the line-up also feature advanced running metrics such as VO2 max, training effect and race time estimates.
To analyze the rich data generated by ProSense, the line is backed by Epson View, an all-new software and app that is preferred in usability studies over Garmin and Fitbit and provides easy third-party integration to online communities like RunKeeperTM and StravaTM. Even the Pro Silicone™ wristbands available on multisport models have been thoughtfully engineered, made with soft, flexible silicone that is breathable and gives better comfort and heart rate accuracy.
Meb Keflezighi – a winner of the Boston and New York City marathons and silver-medal winner in the 2004 Olympic marathon – has been testing and using the ProSense 307 said, “Epson has been a great partner for me in my training for many years now. Their innovation in GPS technology and creating solutions for runners and endurance athletes has helped me immensely in my demanding, day-to-day race preparations.”
“One of Epson’s core strengths is developing miniaturized, power-efficient and highly accurate components,” said Katie Zimmermann, product manager, Epson Wearables. “So this tiny bundle of proprietary chipsets, patented optical heartrate technology and relentless innovation gives runners and athletes a device on their wrist that will be a true workout partner, delivering accuracy and reliability to validate their effort.”

I have been using the Epson Runsense 810 and it has been the best GPS watch I have used by far! If the new product line is anything like it or better which it sounds like it is then they will be awesome!
