New to Pearl Izumi is the Pursuit short with multiple lengths. The Pursuit is a performance short with inseam options of 7”, 5” and 3”. The shorts feature a transfer dry 4-way stretch fabric to provide optimal moisture transfer and stretch. They have a spacious back pocket that is large enough to carry gels, keys and even some small cell phones. The short comes with a transfer dry liner and reflective striping.
The Pursuit shorts are a very comfortable short. We tested in these several different weather conditions and distances. The short is very light and comfortable and did an excellent job of wicking moisture and drying quickly. This is a very good all purpose running short. The pocket in the back is roomy, but we would suggest a zipper. For longer runs, an additional side pocket would be ideal. The venting is amazing due to the mesh vents on the sides of the shorts. Sadly, despite immediately great outer fabrics, our initial impressions of the the transfer dry liner were not great. The liner is not the most comfortable fabric, but it does hold everything in place very well. Additionally, on very long runs, our testers started to chafe and it seemed to be due to the fabric. This can be mitigated by using glide or lubricant. Overall, we really liked the shorts and thought it is perfect for shorter and midrange runs, but it doesn’t shine for longer distances, although it is adequate.
