One of our favorite running brands, Brooks know how to make classic gear. Perhaps one of the favorite pieces this season has been the Go-To 5″ running shorts. For many of us, except Craig Llyod, 5” is the sweet spot. Short enough for a run, long enough that our special parts don’t hang out. The Go-to is constructed of a soft drilayer polyester fabric that is exceptionally comfortable, durable and wicking. The shorts are tailored with a thicker more aesthetically pleasing wide hem on the bottom of the shorts, and only have a side zipper to stash those keys, or what not.
These shorts really became the Go-To for us on many of our middle distance runs. The withstood lots of trail conditions and bushwacking in high alpine conditions. We were really impressed with the quality and durability of these shorts.
In contrast, to the durability of the Go-To shorts, the Ghost line from Brooks is meant to stay cool and light on hot days. The Ghost shirt was a great shirt for 90 or plus degree days running. It’s casual fit and wicking material worked amazingly well.
Sadly, the shirt loses some of the durability to maintain the features in the hot temperatures. Therefore, don’t be surprised if a snag on a tree or bush will abbreviate the lifespan of this wonderful piece of clothing.
