The UltrAspire Velocity is a lightweight, high volume pack. It has a universal fit and can hold up to 7 liters. The Velocity pack features two 550mL UltraFlask bottles with a more flexible design than those traditionally used for running hydration, as well as space for a bladder. The pack also contains roomy side pockets, jacket pocket, plenty or cords for fastening poles, and a fabulous bright color.
I was able to use the pack on varied terrain and in a variety of conditions. I found the easy pole access perfect for steep terrain in the Wasatch Mountains. The main pocket had more than enough room for all of the food and clothing I needed for a mixed weather, long day, in the mountains. Having the water in the front helped to keep the weight balanced.
My favorite feature was the space for strapping on poles, ice ax, or other equipment. The pack was incredibly light weight and still had high capacity. There were several different front pockets for food, gels, glasses, etc, but I wish there had been more zippers on the smaller pockets. The water bottles were a little less comfortable for women and the universal size could be a real problem for those with small frames. I had it set at the smallest setting and the pack would bounce quite a lot if the pack was not filled or if the bladder was not used.
Suggested Use: Long runs, self supported ultras
