Columbia Caldorado II Trail Running Shoe

Columbia Caldorado II Trail Running Shoe

 $120

The Caldorado II trail shoe features an 8mm drop with a combination of stability, cushioning, and aggressive traction to give an overall smooth and stable ride even on rugged terrain. The upper is constructed of a new seamless smooth, reinforced mesh upper and still incorporates the protective elements of a toe cap, integrated gusset and collar foam. The FluidFoam midsole provides great cushion, and the TrailShield rock plate protection with 4mm lugs in the outsole, the Caldorado is a well-balanced shoe for most terrain.

The initial fit of the Caldorado is sturdy and stable, and the traction performs well in snow and mud. The ride is smooth, but you may notice a little stiffness for at least the first 50 miles on the shoes.

Trail shoes made for every day running and training on beefy trails.

Pros: The Shoe is built around protection and stability. The improvements to the shoe have decreased the initial weight of the Caldorado and maintained its performance. The stretch laces are a great feature allowing for more flexibility in fit around the forefoot. The foam-filled tongue and collar make for a comfortable fit around the ankle and top of the heel. The construction of the upper is sturdy and didn’t tear easily.  After 250 miles, we did not see major signs of wear. The outsole was made to last and to deliver great traction on rocky trails and smooth rides for many hours along the trails.

Cons:This is a great shoe for those with medium width feet. For those with narrower feet the Caldorado is still great for smoother buffed-out trails but lacks a secure enough fit around the heel and ankle for more rugged terrain, particularly on the downhill. While the cushion and stability of the shoe are excellent, it makes for a stiffer outsole that can be a bit of a hinderance on technical climbs or descents. The tongue it is just too thick and its material kept rolling inside and making some bumps where at times, can irritate the top of the foot.

They are a very well structured shoe.
