Liberty Bottle Works Reusable Water Bottles

Topo Collection

One of the most important things in an ultrarunner s life is hydration. When we’re not out running with our 10oz flasks or our 2L packs, we still need quality hydration gear….enter Liberty Bottle Works.

Made from 100% recycled metals and manufactured in the US, Liberty Bottleworks has several collections to choose from in 16oz, 24oz or 32oz sizes (12oz or 16oz if you’re shopping the kids’s collection). Caps are either standard (no spout) or sport caps (with spout). Proceeds from each collection benefit various non-profit organizations.

One of the first things I noticed was how convenient the lid is. Liberty has a patented “no-thread” system for all their lids, so ¼ turn and you’re done. No endless twisting on these! Mine also came with a sport cap, where the lid flips up with a spout which uses the straw that comes as part of the package. I found it perfectly suited for those car rides to the races – no fumbling with the lid and spilling your drink on yourself as you drive down that bumpy country road. Maybe that’s just me, but I like to think I’m not the only one…

The wide mouth makes it easy to drop in ice cubes, but keep in mind this is solid aluminum with no insulation, so there will be some sweating. I wouldn’t recommend super hot beverages in it either, at least without Liberty’s “Freaker” – their American-made bottle cozy. Solid aluminum does mean you can recycle the thing when you’re done with it, but that should be awhile, in my clutzy hands my Topo bottle has held up well with no denting or scratching. Liberty does use a food grade coating to prevent metal leaching and generally make it easier to keep clean.

If environmentally friendly, made in America products are your thing and you need a reusable hydration bottle, there’s really no other choice. Mine has made itself right at home in my life, as I just keep refilling it and going. Cheers!
