During the Outdoor Retailer show, I searched high and low for the perfect running skirt. So many companies now offer a line of skirts geared toward the female athlete. I took the time to compare the features of each of these skirts. Below is a quick summary of what I found, but stay tuned for a more detailed review of the latest and greatest in running skirt fashion and function.
RunningSkirts.com: I met with Cindy Lynch, co-founder of RunningSkirts.com. They design the skirts in-house making them unique, including their own patterns and cute prints. Keeping every women in mind, they offer seven different sizes in a variety of styles to provide a perfect fit. Their collection also has a knee-length, modest running skirt for those who prefer to show a little less leg.
Brooks: Lauren Wall and Tiffany Herman introduced me to the PR Mesh and Glycerin skort. The spring line has great new colors. Both styles include a zipper pocket in the back to hold gels.
Asics: Noelle Novoa showed me the new skort that Asics is introducing to their current line. The fabric is made of high-tech “Hydrology,” which is super soft to the touch and quick to dry. New colors available soon are pink glo and black.
Skirts Sports: you will find many different patterns and colors in Skirt Sports. With racing in mind, they include in their line a Race Belt Skirt which holds a race bib. Some models also contain a sonic music port opening under the waistband for easy access to iPod or MP3 headphones.
Moving Comfort: Looking for a supportive top to go with your skirt? Moving Comfort provided a sneak-peak into their sport bras available in spring 2013. The razorback endurance racer is extremely lightweight and easy to get on. The new Vero offers adjustable, convertible straps, and it has a new vibrant look. Also coming soon: the stylish Sprint Tech Skort that cinches at the sides to reveal a peek at the printed boyshort underneath.”
