For 5 years, RD Paul “Crazy Legs” Stofko, has been hosting the “Crazy Legs 10k” in Loveland, CO. He calls the race, “His baby”. This year, Paul drove 1,000 miles from his Indiana home to put on the race. He invited the Colorado Mountain Ninjas to come along for the ride!
At 3am, I awoke the Ninjas with a single strike of the brass bell outside their dojo. Purple Ninja, iNinja, and Ninja Experimento clapped and hugged in celebration of the day ahead. We loaded up my car and made the journey to Loveland, CO. I assisted the Ninjas in checking in and attaching their race bibs.
The Ninjas ran with approximately 80 other smiling faces. The weather was cool and calm. The trails were challenging, but friendly. Paul held his own as an experienced race director, calmly moving the group through the registration process. His small band of loyal volunteers handed out shirts and goodie bags. The race went forward on time, with excited cheers from family and friends.
I took pictures and video, compiling a race video for everyone to enjoy. The Ninjas had an awesome day and even walked away with some age group awards.
The top finishers were:
1st Male: William Gray: 48 minutes
1st Female: Hillary Smallwood: 53min 58secs
